Many employee engagement surveys are studies of employees' perceptions of the organization in which they work. Many surveys uncover the drivers of engagement and then enable executives to understand what needs to be done to improve those drivers. While this sounds right, it is far from effective.

Employee Surveys The days of ineffective surveys are gone! Or at least they should be! Today, we have a clear understanding of the drivers of engagement. The topic has been studied to death! In fact, since we all know what the drivers of engagement are, why do we keep measuring engagement drivers?

The answer; because we think we are going to command a change or improvement in those drivers and improve employee engagement. Only one problem, it does not work! Well, at least it does not work best.

Instead of measuring engagement drivers, you can now measure something more effective. Instead, look at what is getting in the way of the fundamental aspects of employee success.

Then, build the drivers of engagement into the back end of the process. The drivers of engagement belong in the manager’s improvement recommendations so that your organization does not have to wait for managers or employees to unpack engagement psychology before they can become more engaged!
